Cromoglass is an innovative digital printing process on glass with hexachromatic ceramic inks, and now also with precious metallic ceramic inks (Cromoglass Gold), which combines the versatility of digital printing with the resistance of ceramic ink.
After the printing operation, the glass is heated to over 600 degrees (tempered, hardened or annealed). With this procedure, the paint is permanently melted into the glass, guaranteeing an image that remains unchanged over time, even if exposed to direct UV rays and atmospheric agents. For this reason, it is also suitable for applications that require high technical performance such as in the architectural, nautical and naval sectors.

Precious ceramic ink

Functional technical prints
Cromoglass® digital printing finds numerous functional applications to meet different technical and aesthetic needs.
- It is the ideal solution when you want to find a beautiful and effective remedy to hide unsightly elements such as string courses or partitions with building materials.
- Using specific patterns, it is possible to create different degrees of vision screening, to protect the privacy of home and office environments, without compromising the passage of light.
- Cromoglass® also allows thermal and solar control, with applications in architecture but also in the nautical and naval sectors, for example in the production of roofs and skylights, also printed in series.
- Another example is bird-safe pattern prints. These are patterns formed by small regular elements, such as points, lines, silhouettes, created according to the guidelines dictated by the American Bird Conservancy to avoid the collision of birds with a glass. A choice that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also ecological and responsible for our cities.
Tecnologia
La lavorazione di stampa digitale Cromoglass® unisce la versatilità della stampa alla resistenza dell’inchiostro ceramico.
Rispetto alla tradizionale stampa serigrafica su vetro, Cromoglass® risulta nettamente più vantaggiosa sotto tutti i punti di vista: da quello economico a quello relativo ai tempi di produzione, fino alla qualità del prodotto finito.
Dopo l’operazione di stampa, il vetro viene temprato. Con questo procedimento l’immagine resta inalterata nel tempo, anche se esposta alle radiazioni dirette dei raggi UV e agli agenti atmosferici.
Con Cromoglass® è possibile riprodurre in modo semplice e veloce disegni e dipinti su vetro, a partire da un semplice file, raggiungendo risultati ineguagliabili in termini estetici ma anche funzionali: le stampe Comoglass® infatti permettono di ottenere risultati anche in termini di controllo termico e solare.
Grazie infine al processo di tempra, i vetri stampati Cromoglass® sono anche vetri di sicurezza idonei alla norma UNI EN 12150-1:2015 e alla UNI EN 1863-1:2012, e conformi alla EN ISO 12543-4:2011 in quanto vetri di sicurezza resistenti ad alte temperature e all’umidità.
Su richiesta, l’azienda può rilasciare le dichiarazioni di conformità necessarie ad attestare la qualità e il rispetto delle normative europee di riferimento.
Processo produttivo
Il processo di stampa prevede le seguenti fasi:
In questa fase preliminare vengono realizzate tutte le lavorazioni richieste dal cliente: taglio, molatura, foratura, sagomatura etc.
Il file di partenza (in formato .pdf, .tif o .jpeg), fornito dal cliente o proposto dall’ufficio tecnico di Veneto Vetro, viene processato attraverso un apposito software che lo trasforma in un’immagine per la stampa perfetta per definizione e resa cromatica.
Il processo avviene mediante un plotter di grande dimensione a getto di inchiostro che rilascia contemporaneamente i diversi colori. Grazie alla particolare tecnica del Double Vision, è anche possibile stampare in un’unica facciata 2 diversi strati sovrapposti, in modo che la stampa risulti di 2 colori diversi da una parte all’altra del vetro.
Dopo la stampa, il vetro viene successivamente temperato o indurito. In questa fase, il colore ceramico si fonde con il vetro stesso, facendo sì che l’immagine resti inalterata nel tempo. Grazie al processo di tempra, i vetri stampati Cromoglass® sono anche vetri di sicurezza idonei alla norma UNI EN 12150-1:2015 e alla UNI EN 1863-1:2012, e conformi alla EN ISO 12543-4:2011 in quanto vetri di sicurezza resistenti ad alte temperature e all’umidità.
Concluso il ciclo di tempra i vetri possono essere stratificati e/o assemblati in vetrocamera.
Il vetro viene infine sottoposto a controllo qualità, preparato per l’imballo, identificato con codice a barre per la rintracciabilità e spedito.
